What does instrumental mean? According to Merriam-Webster...

in·stru·men·tal (adj.): Serving as a means, agent, or tool.

Music
is an instrumental part of life. Music education is a means to
many end goals, including higher academic achievement. Music
programs are often agents of change in students' lives, resulting in
lower drug use and gang involvement and higher graduation rates.
Providing today's youth with a music education gives them tools for
self-expression and self-efficacy, opportunities for character building,
and the keys to success.

Beyond that, music connects us all to each other and to our own
humanity. Young or old, musician or non-musician, music affects
everyone's lives.

Music is Instrumental is dedicated to providing the resources and tools
you need, whether you're a student, parent, educator, elected
official, or curious observer.
